Alan Helms

Alan Helms, age 74, of Malvern, AR, passed away at Veteran’s Hospital in Little Rock early Thursday morning, February 29, 2024, after a lengthy illness. After graduation from Magnet Cove High School, Alan served in the U. S. Air Force and Air Force Reserves. After his military service, he worked at Pirelli Cable until the plant closing. He then worked at the shoe factory as a delivery driver, constructi­on work and eventually retiring from driving a truck. He also enjoyed taking trips to Vegas for his birthday.

He is predecease­d by his parents, William “Wimp” and Elizabeth “Baby” Phelps Helms.

Alan is survived by his brother and care giver, Dean Helms, of Malvern. Dean provided the best possible care for more than 2 years and the family is very appreciati­ve. He is also survived by a brother, Terry Helms of Malvern, a sister, Barbara Dickson and husband Alvin of Malvern. Niece, Deena Dickson and husband, Eric Strickland of Hot Springs, nephew, Robbie Helms and wife Bessie of Clinton, and Bryan Helms. Great nieces, Delilah Helms and Starlin Beck. Great nephews, Ayden Vickers and Joseph Helms. Alan also leaves behind his beloved fur babies, Zena and Mattie.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 5th at 3pm, at Regency Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour before service begins.

The family wishes to acknowledg­e the Veteran Administra­tion for the excellent care given to our brother during the past few years.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Humane Society of Malvern/ Hot Spring County.
