Beavers victorious in consecutive battles
MAGNET COVE — The Glen Rose Beavers surged victorious on the diamond in two encounters of non-conference baseball action in spring break tournament play hosted in Magnet Cove.
The Beavers took down Rison in a 5-1 victory, then Saturday in a finale performance, Glen Rose secured a 11-1 victory against Junction City Dragons to complete their outing 2-0 at the Cove.
In the first match-up at the Cove, offensively against Rison, the Beavers’ Heath Ballance and Gage Hood propelled the execution in the frame and both powered two hits. Ballance ignited a double and drove in a run for an RBI and scored a run—while Gage Hood drove in a run for an RBI and scored a run. Ty Hood had a double and drove in two runs for two RBIS, Draven Mcspadden, Weston Stanley and Paxton Long each scored a run.
On the mound, Mcspadden earned the victory and struck out five batters and allowed only four hits in six innings of work—while Ballance came in for the relief and struck out two batters to spark the infield defense on the hill.
In the second match-up at the Cove, the Beavers routed Junction City for the 10-run victory. The Beavers’ McSpadden led the offense and went 4-for-4 at the plate and homered for four RBIS and scored three runs. Ballance collected two hits with an RBI and scored a run—ty Hood had two hits with an RBI and scored two runs—while Gage Hood ignited two hits and drove in a run for an RBI.
Dossen Jackson powered a hit and scored a run with two RBIS, Carson Dhane had a double and scored a run—stanley sparked for a hit with an RBI and scored a run—long had a hit and scored a run—while Rein Bland hammered in the frame for a hit.
On the mound, Jackson earned the victory and pitched four innings and struck out six batters while Ballance pitched two innings and struck out three batters.
