▶MANTECA UKE JAM: Ukulele players of all ages and skill levels are invited to jam together on the first Sunday of every month from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the McFall room of the Manteca Public Library, 320 W. Center Street. Singers are invited if accompanied by a ukulele player. It is a free event. ▶ARTISAN MARKET AT DELICATO: The final Summer Artisan market hosted by Delicato Vineyards in their wine tasting room on Highway 99 at French Camp Road four miles north of Manteca is this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Stay cool inside for the event that has free admission, sip wine, and shop local food products, jewelry, wearables, handcrafted items and more. The wine tasting fee is $5 (waived for Delicato Wine Club members). There is no fee to browse the market. Rock Oven Pizza will be selling hot personal pizza.

PIONEER DINNER: Friends of East Union Memorial Cemetery’s 3rd Annual EUMC Pioneer Dinner takes place Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Manteca Senior Center, 295 Cherry Lane. The doors open at 5:30 p.m., with dinner served at 6 p.m. Dinner includes chicken marsala, pork tenderloin, and scalloped potatoes, along with ‘Aunt Jan’s’ famous homemade peach cobbler. Tickets are available for $25 at the EUMC office, 1035 N. Union Road, any weekday between 8and 11:30 a.m., or by calling the office at 209.823.8533 and leaving a message. Tables for parties of 8-10 people are available.

▶BROOKDALE ALZ FUNDRAISER: Brookdale is staging a crab and steak dinner as an Alzheimer’s fundraiser on Thursday, Sept. 13, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Brookdale Manteca, 430 N. Union Road. Dinner includes salad, steak, crab, baked potato, salad dough bread and dessert. There will be live entertainment and a raffle. Tickets are $30 adults and $15 for kids. ▶RIPON GRANGE CHICKEN BBQ: The seventh annual Ripon Grange chicken barbecue takes place Saturday, Sept. 15, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Grange Hall, corner of Milgeo and Ripona avenues in Ripon. Dinner includes chicken, beans, salad and dessert. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under. Drive thru is available.

▶MANTECA GARDEN CLUB MEETING: The monthly meeting of the Manteca Garden Club takes place Monday, Sept. 17, at the Manteca Public Library, 320 W. Center St., Manteca. Refreshments are at 12:30 p.m. with Rising Sun Farm & Garden Operations Coordinator Amber Thorpe speaking at 1 p.m. Rising Sun Farm & Garden is part of the Patterson Joint Unified School District providing students from Patterson, Newman Crows Landing School District and surrounding communities a life skill development program for young adults with special needs, ages 18-22. All are welcome, Membership is always open.

▶O▶ARIAN CANCER FUNDRAISER: The Ovarian Cancer Alliance Board members are staging a drive thru fundraiser at Fagundes Meats, 142 Jason St., Manteca on Thursday, Sept. 20, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The menu consists of a quarter chicken, tri-tip, scalloped potatoes, green beans, roll and butter. Sales end Sept. 13. the cost is $15. ▶PAULSEN’S HOT ROD PARTY: Pete Paulsen’s 29th annual Hot Rod Party is Sunday, Oct. 14. It takes place at the Paulsen Ranch in French Camp near the San Joaquin River from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. General admission is $6 while those 10 and under are free. Early car entry is $30 while day of the event it jumps to $40. The show is for all years American made or powered. It features vendors, tri-tip BBQ by Fagundes, hot dogs, and a live auction at 2 p.m. Special guests include “Miss Hurst” Linda Vaughn, John D’Agostini and his car “Rita”, DJs Johnny T & Wolfie, the Port City Roller Girls, and Harley the hugging dog.
