THURSDAY, SEPT. 13 ▶MANTECA MUSEUM PROGRAM: The Manteca Historical Society will hold their monthly program night on Wednesday, Sept. 13, at 7 p.m.at the museum, 600 W. Yosemite Ave. Featured speaker will be Artemis Vourakis presenting a program about her Greek parents and their immigration to the United States. THURSDAY, SEPT. 13 ▶BROOKDALE ALZ FUNDRAISER: Brookdale is staging a crab and steak dinner as an Alzheimer’s fundraiser on Thursday, Sept. 13, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Brookdale Manteca, 430 N. Union Road. Dinner includes salad, steak, crab, baked potato, salad dough bread and dessert. There will be live entertainment and a raffle. Tickets are $30 adults and $15 for kids. SATURDAY, SEPT. 15 ▶RIPON GRANGE CHICKEN BBQ: The seventh annual Ripon Grange chicken barbecue takes place Saturday, Sept. 15, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Grange Hall, corner of Milgeo and Ripona avenues in Ripon. Dinner includes chicken, beans, salad and dessert. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under. Drive thru is available.

MONDAY, SEPT. 17 ▶MANTECA GARDEN CLUB MEETING: The monthly meeting of the Manteca Garden Club takes place Monday, Sept. 17, at the Manteca Public Library, 320 W. Center St., Manteca. Refreshments are at 12:30 p.m. with Rising Sun Farm & Garden Operations Coordinator Amber Thorpe speaking at 1 p.m. Rising Sun Farm & Garden is part of the Patterson Joint Unified School District providing students from Patterson, Newman Crows Landing School District and surrounding communities a life skill development program for young adults with special needs, ages 18-22. MONDAY, SEPT. 17, & WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 19 ▶MANTECA AMERICAN LEGION OPEN HOUSE: American Legion McFall Grisham Post 249 in Manteca will recognize the beginning of the 100th year of service by the America Legion. On Sept. 17 and Sept. 19 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. the Post located at 220 E. Yosemite Ave. will stage an open house. There will be a wide range of vintage military items including vintage Jeeps and history of Post 249. Snacks and refreshments will be available and they ask that anybody who would like to have a look at some of Manteca history attend.

SUNDAY, OCT. 14 ▶PAULSEN’S HOT ROD PARTY: Pete Paulsen’s 29th annual Hot Rod Party is Sunday, Oct. 14. It takes place at the Paulsen Ranch in French Camp near the San Joaquin River from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. General admission is $6 while those 10 and under are free. Early car entry is $30 while day of the event it jumps to $40. The show is for all years American made or powered. It features vendors, tri-tip BBQ by Fagundes, hot dogs, and a live auction at 2 p.m. Special guests include “Miss Hurst” Linda Vaughn, John D’Agostini and his car “Rita”, DJs Johnny T & Wolfie, the Port City Roller Girls, and Harley the hugging dog.
