Advocates of democracy: Recognize your duty
Too often, the regular Marin Voice conservative cadrés can be annoying in their willful acquiescence to dubious Donald Trump talking points, so it was heartening to read Todd Hooper’s column in the IJ recently. He voiced a calm and sober respect for the U.S. Constitution, asking we, his readers, to recognize our duty to this foundational document. Yet no letter-writer has responded with praise for his stance. In fact, his position ought to be celebrated as a model of what an advocate (and defender) of democracy should espouse.
It is truly sad the majority of Republicans are still mired in a close-minded syncophancy to such an anti-constitutional chief executive. As Hooper said, “‘We the People’ need to recognize (our) duty.”
