San Domenico pulls away late to beat MA

Aleksa Milentijev­ir scored 17 points to lead the San Domenico boys basketball team to a 51-44 win over league rival Marin Academy on Wednesday night.

The Panthers (12-8, 3-2 Bay Counties League West) pulled away with a 13-6 fourth-quarter run to gain some late separation. Max Ray chipped in with 11 points and five assists,

Girls basketball

Cate Olrich and Alexa Dal Porto had nine points and three steals apiece to help San Domenico roll past Marin Academy. 4215. Dal Porto also pulled down seven rebounds to pace the Panthers (11-8, 3-2 Bay Counties League West). Isabella Engler had three points and eight steals. Jada Shore scored eight points, had five rebounds and three steals.

Men’s basketball

Jalen Chandler posted a huge double-double with 25 points and 19 rebounds as the College of Marin men’s basketball team rallied for a 78-71 road win against Alameda.

Julian Bryant added 14 points while Alfonsie Murrie and Ethan Battistini both scored 10 points.

“Really proud of our guys,” COM coach Scott Thom said in a text message. “We were down 10 in the second half and our guys stayed together, valued possession­s and stepped up the defensive intensity. Once we took the lead with 6 minutes left in the game, our guys didn’t look back.”

Wrestling

Jonathan Carmona, Fabian Carmona and Zack Chernoff were among the standouts as San Marin picked up a 60-15 win against Terra Linda.

• Jonas Barnes won the match of the night, according to Tam coach Preston Picus, helping lift the Redtailed Hawks to a 60-16 victory against Drake. Barnes picked up his win at 120 pounds. Tam (3-2) also got big wins from Luca Cuffe (160), Ayman Hayat and Liam Armistead. Aidan Read, Aidan Bergman and Gage Smith picked up victories for Drake.

• Redwood split a pair of dual meets, topping San Rafael, 48-9, but falling to Novato, 48-33. No further info was available at press time.
