Marin ready as vaccine process is streamlined
The rollout for the new vaccine has unfortunately progressed much slower than anticipated and significant problems have been identified with the distribution, not the least of which is little direction from the federal government.
We have read about horrendous lines in Florida and elsewhere. In Marin, we have encountered difficulties with registering for an appointment. That will be improving every day. Registration should be done by your health care system as opposed to your private physician.
As a health care provider I received the first injection of the Pfizer vaccine on Jan. 16. Kudos to the Marin Department of Public Health and the system they have established at the Civic Center. You simply drive in at your appointment time, identify yourself to assure you are currently eligible according to your tier group, get out of your car and follow the arrows.
Well organized and efficient, the entire process takes less than 30 minutes and you are on your way with a date to return for the second inoculation. Kudos also to the various fire department paramedics from across the county, as well as the Marin Medical Reserve Corps who are participating in the injections and assisting hospital services.
Just to assure you, the vaccines are safe, extensively tested, effective, cannot alter your RNA or DNA or implant some sort of tracking device as suggested by nefarious websites. Rest assured that your turn will arrive. In the meantime, wear your masks and social distance even after you have been vaccinated.
