Spotswood should leave Marin Republicans alone
It appears that Dick Spotswood is committed to the idea that if you tell a lie loud enough and often enough, it becomes the truth. He also seems to have taken on an even higher position in promoting despotism.
I am chair of the Marin County Republican Central Committee under attack by Spotswood (“Marin GOP group must acknowledge legitimacy of presidential election,” Jan. 20). I am guilty of not succumbing to the canard that Joe Biden won “fair and square” and being a Trumpian — proudly so. With all that in mind, I am constantly amazed at the continuing efforts to try to destroy the already vanquished Donald Trump.
Spotswood’s side won. He should take it and go on.
Why is Spotswood so afraid of recovery from the ashes of defeat?
Spotswood and his cohorts can’t find a valid ideology to counter Trump’s reverence for our founding documents. He is recoiling in fear of castigating the left and far left Democrats, and other members of the swamp, the administrative state. Why does he revert to schoolyard tactics of bullying the guy on the ground?
We Republicans, and many others, are still trying to keep a republic. We respect and support the Declaration of Independence and our Constitution.
In particular, we support the second paragraph of the declaration, concentrating, in particular, on the words “from the consent of the governed.”
Spotswood and his ilk want elections controlled by those who count the votes, not by those who vote. A case in point would be House Resolution 1, supported by Speaker of the
House Nancy Pelosi. That bill makes a farce of the word integrity and states’ rights.
If the Republican Party is so ineffectual, why does Spotswood bother beating on it?
