The 1 thing to get us through 2022

For January, share a short tale of what hope means to you

- By Vicki Larson vlarson@marinij.com

Many of us were hopeful in 2021. With the promise of vaccines, a calmer administration, in-person learning and government assistance that helped us get through the economic impacts of the pandemic, many hoped we could get back to some sense of “normalcy.” Until omicron appeared, it often felt like we were moving that way.

But COVID was not done with us. And so now we find ourselves entering a new year with a lot of uncertainty. But one thing all who have faced hardships never gave up on is hope. So it’s a good time to explore what hope means to you and how you’ve lost or found it.

For January, please share a sixword story about hope. Please make it a story with a beginning, middle and end. Make us laugh or cry or at the very least feel something. If you want your story to run in the IJ, please:

• Write “Six-word story” in the subject line

• Send one story. Just one • Include your full name and Marin town in the body of the email

• Write your short story in the body of the email (not in the subject line or in an attachment)

• Use proper punctuation

• Use sentence style

• Use correct spelling

• It does not need to rhyme and ideally shouldn’t

• It should not be six adjectives Send to lifestyles@marinij.com by Jan. 14. Then look for your story in the Jan. 25 lifestyles section and online.
