Carol Ann (Lofaso) Ferrell

Apr. 25, 1945 - Mar. 11, 2022

-

After a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia, Carol has transitioned to a better place.

Carol leaves behind her devoted and loving husband of 42 years, Clifford Ferrell. She was

predeceased by her mother Agnes King, her father Sal Lofaso, and stepmother Alyce Lofaso. She leaves behind her dear sisters-inlaw and many dear cousins, nieces and nephews.

Carol was born in St. Mary’s Hospital in San Francisco, CA. She attended Catholic school in San Francisco until she and her mother moved to San Anselmo, Marin County, when she was in 7th grade. She graduated from Sir Francis Drake High School in 1963.

Carol was an adventurous woman and loved to travel. She had 11 states to go to hit them all but her plans were interrupted by the illness. She attended the famous Woodstock concert in New York in 1969. She spent a year living on the beaches in southern Mexico. She spent about 10 years living in British Columbia, Canada. She settled in Vancouver where she established and ran a program called West End Service to Seniors.

She returned to Marin County in the late 1970s and soon landed a job at the Marin County Office of Education (MCOE). She moved around to other local school districts in Marin - San Rafael, Kentfield, Tomales, Tamalpais, and briefly in other districts – and returned to MCOE from which she retired in 2006. She made many good friends over the 25 years she worked in education.

Carol was an avid animal lover. Dogs were her passion and she rarely could pass a dog on the street without giving lots of scratches and love.

Although not much of a gardener, she was a lover of nature. She loved the outdoors – camping, hiking, boating, and swimming (bathing in the alpine lakes of Tahoe, brrrr!).

Carol loved to cook, as evident by all of the recipes, books and gadgets she left behind.

Carol loved all of the holidays. Her home and work places were always decorated to show it.

Clifford is grateful to Carol’s private part-time caregivers and to hospice for their palliative care in her final days.

Carol was loved by everyone she met. Her lively and loving spirit will always be remembered. Hers was a life well lived. She will be sorely missed.

Should you wish to honor Carol’s life, donations in her memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1450 Neotomas Ave., Suite 140, Santa Rosa, CA 95405.
