Susan Malet

Sep. 29, 1942 – Dec. 21, 2021

-

Susan Edwards Malet was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She left us peacefully on December 21, 2021 with her family by her side. Susan was 79.

Born to Frank and Eleanor Earl on September 29, 1942, Susan grew up in Nutley, New Jersey where she graduated from Nutley High School before moving to Boston to attend Simmons College to study journalism. Susan excelled at academics and had a joy for reading and history. In 1967, Susan moved to Marin County, where she made many friends, spent the balance of her life engaged in the community, and raising her family as a stay-at-home mother.

Susan was an avid tennis player, enjoyed baking pies, playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, reading and traveling the world. She had a sharp wit, keen sense of humor and was kind to everyone. Susan enjoyed years of volunteering at the church Holly Fair in San Geronimo. Susan loved music and was an ardent fan of Frank Sinatra, singing along to almost every tune. But her true passion was spending time with family.

With striking blue eyes, Susan was a light in the room. She was content with a simple life of close friends and family, was often reserved in her demeanor, but had a quiet confidence as she met new

people. Her hallmark sense of humor, love of words and laughter, will truly be missed.

Susan is survived by her family and extended family, who all cherished her: loving husband of 20 years, Bill Malet; her four children, Robin Rose, Jeffrey Bender, Christopher Bender, and Gary Bender; her sister Margaret Nalley; her 11 grandchildren; two ‘stepchildren; and four step-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother Thomas Earl in 2013.

Susan adored her family and spent as much time as possible supporting them throughout her life.

A celebration of life will be held at Monte’s Chapel in San Anselmo on April 23, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.
