Event to offer money for working firearms

Authorities have scheduled a “gun buyback” event for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 4 in San Rafael.

The program will offer $100 for handguns, rifles and shotguns and $200 for assault weapons. The guns must be functional. The limit is three guns per seller. The event organizers will also accept ammunition.

The event will be held at the Marin County Sheriff's Office headquarters at 1600 Los Gamos Drive. Sellers must drive up with the guns in the trunk.
