Checkpoint planned for DUI violators

Police are conducting a traffic checkpoint on Friday to screen for intoxicated drivers.

The checkpoint is scheduled to begin at about 6 p.m. Police did not release the location, but the department typically chooses busy roads such as De Long Avenue, South Novato Boulevard, Ignacio Boulevard and San Marin Drive.

Staffing for the checkpoint is funded through a grant program of the California Office of Traffic Safety and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
