Good time for Community Foundation to step in

-

I am writing about the article published April 27 with the headline “Marin funds programs to boost child care.” I'm very proud of

Marin County and the Marin Community Foundation for their efforts to address the economic and racial disparity rife within Marin County, the state of California and beyond.

As a teen student with parents who work for the public sector in Marin, I have seen firsthand the complications with teacher shortages, as well as the difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic (lacking supply of masks and testing, for example). Many teachers have been impacted by this plight. As a result, I believe there is an imperative for local governments to provide as much support with finance, income, childcare education and food insecurity as possible — especially as we dig ourselves out of the pandemic-caused health, academic and monetary recession.

There are a great deal of children on the cusp of support who don't receive deserved aid. I hope that Marin's funding proves successful in remedying their peril.
