-

Mrs. Geraldine (Gerry) Mary Patterson, age 96, passed away peacefully at her home in Kentfield, CA on April 25, 2022.

She was born to William Carr and Rose Cusick on October 8, 1925, in Los Angeles. Gerry graduated from Alhambra City High School in 1944.

She married George Patterson during World War II in 1943. After serving in the U.S. Navy, George moved with Gerry to George’s hometown of San Francisco and in 1951 they settled in Kentfield where they raised their three children: Linda, Cathy and Merrianne.

Gerry was preceded in death by her husband, George in 1983 and daughter, Linda in 2012. She is survived by her children Cathy Patterson and Merrianne Vizza (Tony). She is the beloved Grammy to her grandchildren Jeri Caldwell (Jeff), Sandra Smith (Steve) and Yvonne Ludlow (Mike); her great-grandchildren Mia Caldwell, Ryan Smith, Joshua Moates and Jamie Smith; as well as many great-great grandchildren. She is also the loving aunt to her nieces and nephews, Rocky Patterson, Sue Raleigh, Pamela Goss, Rodney Carr, and Jeni Reid.

Gerry worked for Eugene Burger Management in Greenbrae after the death of her husband and retired after 12 years.

In May 2021, she proudly celebrated her 50-year membership in the Order of Eastern Star. She was also a member of High Twelvettes of Marin, and a past member of the McGinnis Park Women’s Golf Club.

Gerry loved her family and could often be heard serenading them with Doris Day’s rendition of “A Bushel and a Peck,” while artfully flubbing the lyrics. She always enjoyed having everyone together at her home, where most recently she welcomed her great-granddaughter, Mia to the family.

The family would like to thank the caring team from By the Bay Health who cared for all of us with such kindness.

Burial will be private at Mt. Tamalpais Cemetery in San Rafael. A celebration of her life will be at a future date. Donations may be made to By the Bay Health, Marin County.

Mom, Grammy, Aunt Gerry, Gerry Mary, we love you, a bushel and a peck.
