Fred was born April 17, 1938 in Kansas City, Kansas to George and Mary Boone. He lived in Manhattan, Kansas, graduated from Manhattan High School and attended Kansas State University.

Fred was a 49-year resident of Novato, employed by Golden Gate Transit. He is survived by his wife, Dolores Gant Boone; son, Stephen (Laura); brother, Steve (Cindy); and nephew, Vance (Heather). Other family members close to Fred are Terese Gant Ellis (Ronan), David Gant, and Michael Gant (Lisa). He is also survived by his grandchildren Zoe and Gryphon Boone, Chrissy, Katie and Ashley Ellis, Dorian and Wolfgang Gant.

Fred was a kind and gentle man, always with a positive attitude in spite of bouts of illness. He was intelligent, knowledgeable and had a strong sense of fairness. Fred lived a life full of friends (especially those from Kansas), sports, classic movies, and music. He was an excellent bridge player, fisherman, and tennis player.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, sons Calhoun and Matthew, and niece, Stephanie.

The Boone family is grateful to the physicians and nurses involved in Fred’s care. Their excellent care and compassion gave him a long and happy life. We are also grateful for the outpouring of love, condolences and memories from friends near and far.

We will miss him, always. "Sweet dreams."
