Nonprofit for seniors supports Measure A

-

I love living in Marin, where I hike or bike every day. It feeds my soul. Breathing fresh air and being surrounded by nature is invigorating. I love hearing the birds, seeing wildlife and being surrounded by beautiful wildflowers. I also enjoy sharing my love of nature and our county's parks with my friends and family. During the pandemic, it is a place I feel safe getting together with others for picnics and family events.

I am proud to work as executive director for the nonprofit organization Love is the Answer. We help older people to feel connection with others, reducing their loneliness and isolation. Our “Seniors in the Park” program has been made possible by a grant from Marin County Parks. It is funded by money from the Measure A tax.

We transport groups of older adults who live in health care facilities to parks for picnics, live music and general merriment. Our volunteers join the residents, bringing their pets and children to the festivities. This past year, many of the residents attending said it was the first time they had left their facility in two years. They were so happy. Please vote yes on Measure A to keep providing outdoor spaces that promote positive public mental health for our community.
