Crncich Hodge strong choice for superintendent

-

Being an educator or student in Marin right now is about as hard as could be. The stressors of the pandemic and the everincreasing challenges of living on a teacher's salary in this chaotic economy have made the profession more challenging than ever.

The sudden but necessary pivot to remote, then hybrid learning illuminated many inequalities that exist for our students and their families regarding access to education. Add to these the divide that seems to have grown in the last two years between parents, teachers and administrations, and we have an education system in crisis.

As a fifth-grade teacher at Kent Middle School in Kentfield, I think the candidacy of Michele Crncich Hodge for Marin superintendent of schools is an opportunity we must embrace. Her experience as an educator, administrator and school trustee is invaluable in her ability to understand the many perspectives and needs within our public schools.

She has a proven track record of listening to and valuing the point of view of students, parents and teachers in guiding her thinking and decision-making. Crncich Hodge offers a new kind of leadership — one that has been lacking for the past few decades. It is one that embraces the expertise of teachers and purposefully considers the many stakeholders in our public schools.
