Branson, San Domenico athletes claim track titles

Athletes from San Domenico and the Branson School combined to win four events at Saturday's North Coast Section Class A Track and Field Championsh­ips in Santa Rosa.

Panthers senior Kezian Dunn won the shot put and was second in the discus, while junior Hayley Ballard was the 3,200 meter champion in a time of 11 minutes, 12.1 seconds.

The Bulls' Adeline Johnson won the girls 800 in 2:18.25 and was second in the 1,600 with personal best of 4:59.17.

Branson's Jaliyah Wiggins won the girls high jump at 4 feet, 10 inches, just ahead of teammate Tara Curtain, who also cleared 4-10.

The Marin Academy trio of Maya Wadhwani (4-8.25), Esme Morrison (4-8) and Juliet Reichardt (4-8) placed fourth, fifth and sixth.

Curtain was fifth in the girls long jump (16-1).

San Domenico senior Kevin Leng was second in the boys high jump (5-10). Branson's William Bollini was third in the boys long jump (20-8), just ahead of Peng, who finished fourth. Peng also took fourth in the triple jump.

The Panthers' Braeden Connan was third in the 100 meter dash and Branson's Henry Houser took sixth in the boys 1600.

The top six finishers qualify for the NCS Meet of Champions on Saturday.

Boys golf

The MCAL released its all-league team with Marin Catholic's Theo Anderson named the player of the year following his victory at the MCAL Championsh­ips.

The first team features Branson's trio of Ryan Herbst, Jack Rende and Charlie Farrell, Tam's Ben Friedman, Marin Catholic's Truman Ashforth, plus Redwood's Arjun Aujla.
