Assembly candidate Aminzadeh is best choice

-

Of the four candidates vying for Marin's Assembly seat, one stands out as exceptional. California Coastal Commissioner Sara Aminzadeh has earned my enthusiastic support for District 12. I'm confident her decades of state-level expertise, her energy and dynamism, as well as her demonstrated record of values-based leadership, fueled by her passion for protecting the climate for future generations, will serve our communities well in coming years.

My own time as a member of San Anselmo Council and as mayor has taught me that there's a world of difference between voting yes on what comes before you and doing the hard work to get it there in the first place. Aminzadeh will do the hard work. She uplifts community voices and brings people together.

Instead of guarding gates, she opens doors. Her entire career is dedicated to building coalitions to advance policies, programs and infrastructure to support healthy communities and the environment. Her reputation in Sacramento and Washington, D.C. stems from her expertise on issues including drought, fire and public health — as well as from her ability to get things done.

Aminzadeh is backed by an impressive number of state leaders — including some of the strongest progressive voices and climate champions in Sacramento — and many of Marin's local leaders, too. Interestingly, a number of these local leaders gave endorsements to both Aminzadeh, who was the second candidate to pull papers, and another candidate, who was first.

Why is this important? Early endorsers of the first candidate, a longtime local elected, seem to have been sufficiently compelled and inspired by Aminzadeh's leadership that they offered her their support and endorsement, an unusual move and a strong indicator to voters.

There's a lesson here, too. Voters get just one chance to express their support via ballot. Consider the four options carefully before making your choice. Once you have, I hope you'll join me in casting a vote for Aminzadeh.
