Tam baseball falters against Maria Carrillo

Tam High got off to a slow start and never caught up in Saturday’s 12-4 non-league loss to Maria Carrillo. The Red-tailed Hawks gave up six runs in the first three innings before putting two on the board in the bottom of the third. Charlie Blau drove in two runs and Tyler Buxton had an RBI for Tam. Kaiden Dossa was 2-for-3 with a double and scored a run. Tam (4-4) is scheduled to return to MCAL play on Tuesday against Redwood, depending on the weather.

Prep swimming

Nick Scruton, Harry Wait and Owen Pritchard were double winners as the Redwood boys secured a 108-53 win against San Marin on Friday. Mia Soloman and Adeline Turner were double winners for the Giants on the girls side in a 120-47 victory. San Marin got wins from Danielle Padilla (500 free) and Julian Owens (100 breast).

Boys lacrosse

Jackson Garcia had five goals and Yzayah Jagow had 12 saves to lead San Rafael to an 11-5 victory against Windsor on Friday night. Jasper Smith and Asher Urban had two goals apiece for the Bulldogs.

Badminton

San Domenico edged Lick Wilmerding, 5-4, despite a dramatic singles loss on Thursday, March 9. All the other matches on the court stopped to watch as the Panthers’ Martin Peng played a back-and-forth contest at No. 1 boys singles. Peng won the first game 2115, but dropped the second and third 21-16 and 23-21. San Domenico senior Cici Lin took the win in the No. 1 girls singles match. These two teams meet for a rematch next month. In the meantime, San Domenico (2-0) is scheduled to play Convent on Thursday.

Motor sports

After opening the 3/8mile, clay track for two test and tune dates, Petaluma Speedway will launch what could be its final season at the Sonoma-Marin Fairground­s on March 25.
