It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Hildegard Buel, a beloved Mother, Grandmothe­r and friend. Hildegard was born on October 19, 1929 in San Francisco, California. Throughout her extraordin­ary journey of 93 years, she touched the lives of countless individual­s with her witty humor, strength, faith and unwavering love.

Her faith was at the heart of Hildegard's being. She was an active member at St. Sebastian Church where she spent countless hours setting up for masses and keeping the church decorated with the most beautiful of flowers. Hilde continuous­ly made a positive impact on the catholic community and the world around her.

Hildegard's zest for life was truly infectious. She found solace in the simple pleasures, whether it was tending to her garden, indulging in her love of literature, making tapioca for her grandchild­ren, or spending quality time with her loved ones. She had a great love for animals and constantly surrounded her children with dogs, cats, chickens, and rabbits. Her spirit was unwavering, even in the face of adversity, serving as a testament to her strength and resilience.

Hilde is survived by her four children: Stephen Ugarte, Irene Legnitto, Edward Ugarte, Richard Ugarte, her 12 grandchild­ren: Kristen Gardiner, Rachel Ahnen, David Legnitto, Barbara Hansson, John Legnitto, Daniella Zaro, Ane Miren Ugarte, Aliza Ugarte, Amalia Ugarte, Brandon Ugarte, Nick Ugarte, Zachary Ugarte, and her 11 great grandchild­ren; Ava Gardiner, Olivia Gardiner, Leah Gardiner, Brooklyn Ahnen, Madison Ahnen, Gianna Hansson, Aviana Hansson, Natalia Zaro, Ezekiel Zaro, Iliana Tanton and Oliver Ugarte.

As we mourn the loss of a remarkable individual, let us also celebrate the incredible life that Hildegard Buel lived. Her legacy of kindness, compassion, and unwavering love will endure in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 18, 2023 at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 373 Bon Air Road, Kentfield, CA. Final Resting Place is Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Colma, CA.
