Marin Catholic triumphs over Archie Williams

Tuesday’s MCAL girls tennis match could have gone either way as three matches went to tiebreaker­s, but Marin Catholic emerged with a 7-0 sweep of Archie Williams.

The Wildcats’ Ellie Damiani regained her footing for a 6-2, 2-6, 10-5 victory at No. 4 singles. Marin Catholic’s top two doubles teams rebounded after first-set losses to force 10-point tiebreaker­s and emerge with the wins. The Wildcats’ Sienna Taylor defeated Amalya Rajparia, 6-3, 7-6 (8) at No. 3 singles.

• Terra Linda’s Emelia Frost edged Zoe CsizmadiaZ­innes, 6-2, 7-6 (2) at No. 3 singles as the Trojans held on for a 4-3 victory over Novato on Tuesday. Terra Linda’s Jamie Schmidt was victorious at No. 2 singles and the Trojans won at No. 2 and 3 doubles. Novato’s Piper Coffey and Anica Chang won in tiebreaker­s at No. 1 and No. 4 singles.

Boys water polo

Reed Hanna netted seven times and Quin Concannon added four goals to lift Tam to a 15-9 victory against Marin Academy on Wednesday. Andrew Sternfels had a team-high five assists for Tam (8-2, 3-1 MCAL) while Bern Kent had four assists.

Girls water polo

Redwood spread the scoring around in Tuesday’s 13-1 victory over San Domenico’s inaugural varsity squad. Andie Johnston, Sasha Lilien, Molly Goldstein, Annabelle Kilgore, Roxie Monty, Kate Morgan, Izzy Babb, Charlotte Philkill, Britt Norris, Sawyer Barta and Morgan Sicklick all scored for the Giants. Redwood goalkeeper Caroline Quirk made seven saves.

Marin Catholic’s Madie Dayton committed to continue her playing career at Wesleyan University. Dayton was a key player for MC last year as a junior, helping guide the Wildcats to an unbeaten league season and a 28-6 mark overall.

Dayton received an allleague second team nod from the MCAL coaches last season.

Girls golf

Elizabeth Liu took medalist honors with a 34 as Branson secured a 157238 win against Novato on Wednesday.

Tam’s Lola Spendov took medalist honors with a 14-over par 49, but Marin Catholic took the day with a 214-231 victory over the Red-tailed Hawks at StoneTree on Tuesday. Cecily Hadd led the Wildcats with a 50.

Prep cross country

The Branson School girls emerged with victories over Terra Linda and San Rafael at China Camp on Tuesday, with Branson freshmen taking the top two spots overall.

San Rafael’s boys edged Branson by one point in Tuesday’s race, with the Bulls finishing ahead of Terra Linda.

Girls volleyball

The Branson School (174, 3-0) remains an undefeated power in the MCAL after the Bulls swept host Novato, 25-7, 25-12, 25-7, on Tuesday.

Women’s soccer

Taylor Stull and Emmy Bergen each scored twice as College of Marin defeated Mendocino 4-2 on Tuesday. The Mariners (25) are scheduled to host Merritt on Friday.
