Beers, brats and fun ahead

The October shoulder season means bratwurst, brews, souvlaki, barbecue, pie and gourmet bites at a slew of county festivals and events.

Peddle to downtown Fairfax for an all-age and -ability celebratio­n of cycling at the annual Biketoberf­est brewfest and exposition from 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Oct. 14.

The bands San Geronimo,

Hall Pass and Good Karma jam on stage between noon and 5 p.m., while State Room Brewery, Pond Farm Brewing Co., Indian Valley Brewing, HenHouse Brewing Co., Folksy Hard Kombucha and Best Day Brewing (non-alcoholic) are among the 16 Bay Area brewers pouring more than 35 beers and ciders.

Biketoberf­est takes place at 1966 Sir Francis Drake Blvd. at the Marin Museum of Bicycling in Fairfax, where you can park your bike for free (first come, first served).

Purchase beer tasting tickets with souvenir glass and unlimited tastings ($35 in advance, $50 event day) or register in advance for morning road, gravel or mountain group rides or for the 9 to 11 a.m. family ride at Marinbike.org/biketoberf­est. All proceeds support Marin County Bicycle Coalition and Access4Bik­es and their efforts to expand Marin County's network of bike lanes, pathways and trails.
