San Anselmo, CA Norma Anne Baumsteige­r (Age 89) went to be with the Lord January 17, 2024. She was born September 16, 1934 in San Francisco to James and Julia Gould and was the second of three children in between older brother Jim and younger brother Leonard. She spent most of her youth living in San Francisco, but she also experience­d country living in Woodacre from 1942-1945. While attending St. Peter’s Academy in San Francisco, Norma met the love of her life, Frederick Baumsteige­r, during her junior year. After high school, Norma attended Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont and after Fred returned from U.S. Army service, they married at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in San Francisco in 1956. They built a home in San Anselmo in 1962 and raised a loving family of four sons and a foster daughter. Aside from family, Norma and Fred shared many interests including their passion for classic cars, travel, and many outdoor recreation­s. After Fred’s untimely passing in 1987, Norma aka “Nonni” lovingly embraced time with her grandchild­ren and later great-grandchild­ren as the family expanded. Throughout her later years, she was an avid writer and authored a book. She loved her pets. In fact, her dachshund, “Shadow”, frequently rode "shotgun" in the car during their outings. Norma is survived by her four sons Tim (Susan), Jeffery, Andy, and Ted (Jennifer), foster daughter (Sandy), ten grandchild­ren, three great-grandchild­ren, brother-in-law (Carl), sister-in-law (Alice) and numerous nieces and nephews. A Rosary will be held at St. Anselm's Catholic Church in Ross, CA on Friday, February 9th, at 7pm. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Anselm's on Saturday, February 10th, at 11am.
