Four Marin Catholic football players slated to sign NLIs

Mario Crocitto, Ricky Kampmann, Greer Arthur, and Peter Macaulay are set to sign letters of intent to play college football on Thursday afternoon.

The signings bring the total for last season’s State Division 3-A champs to six with potential a couple more on the way.

Crocitto, the MCAL lineman of the year, is heading to Tufts University. Kampmann, one of MC’s top linemen, is headed to Denison University.

Peter Macaulay is set to join teammate Zach Taylor at Bowdoin College next season.

Finally, receiver Greer Arthur will join a contingent of former MC players at UC Davis. The Aggies currently feature four former Wildcats on the roster in quarterbac­k Michael Ingrassia, running back Matteo Perez, defensive lineman Trent Carrade, plus defensive back Gaven Cooke.

Prep baseball

Tam was limited to three hits in a 5-1 season-opening loss to Casa Grande on Wednesday. Pitcher Eli Solem had two of his team’s three hits and also went 4.2 innings with one earned run allowed on the mound. Solem’s RBI single in the sixth scored Cooper Kift for Tam’s lone run.

Men’s basketball

Justin Aquino came off the bench to score a teamhigh 23 points as College of Marin lost an 8180 heartbreak­er to Napa Valley on Tuesday night. Tre McPherson added 18 points for the Mariners (10-17, 7-8 Bay Valley) while Logan Coverson scored 12.

Women’s basketball

Isobel Crosswhite scored 18 points and pulled down 18 rebounds as COM fell 59-47 against Napa Valley on Tuesday. Samantha Morris added 14 points and seven rebounds for the Mariners (14-13, 8-5).
