Camilla “Skip” Burbank McCaw passed away peacefully at the age of 97. She was born in Dahlonega, Georgia, to Jeanette (Jarrard) and Eugene McCurdy. Following the death of her father, Skip and her mother moved to the Bay Area. She was raised in San Francisco by her parents, Jeanette and W. Freeman Burbank. Skip graduated from Lowell High School and then graduated from UC Berkeley earning a degree and teaching credential in Elementary Education. At Cal in 1944, she joined the Alpha Delta Phi sorority where she met many of her lifelong friends. Also at Cal, Skip met her future husband, Donald McCaw, and following graduation they were married at Trinity Episcopal Church in San Francisco in 1950. Skip first taught at Manzanita School in Oakland and after moving to San Anselmo, started teaching at Sleepy Hollow School in 1954.

Skip and Don were great fans of Cal athletics and had the distinctio­n of attending 63 consecutiv­e Cal-Stanford Big Games as a couple. Go Bears! They also loved to travel and enjoyed many amazing trips around the world. Skip was a very active volunteer with community and charity groups. She was involved in the Marin Alumnae of Alpha Delta Phi sorority and also served as state membership chairperso­n. For Sunny Hills Services in San Anselmo, she served as Grape Festival Chairperso­n in 1967, president of her Grape Booth Guild, and served on the Guild Governing Council. Skip was an active volunteer and member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Ross. In 1999, she was a chairperso­n for the “March to Grace” event in San Francisco celebratin­g the Episcopal Diocese of California 150th anniversar­y.

Skip is preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years Donald. She is survived by her son Dan who she loved with all her heart. Skip also opened her heart to many friends and their children who were blessed to become Skip’s family. Her memory will live on through the lives she touched and the love she shared.
