Ellen Lamy Moore passed away peacefully at the age of 95 February 1, 2024.

Ellen was born October 13, 1928 in New York City. She resided in Garden City on Long Island and later in Manhattan where she attended The Brearley School. Ellen modeled and worked at Glamour magazine. She married William E. Moore in 1949. After the Korean War, they moved to Arizona and eventually California where they raised their 2 daughters Debbie and Liza.

Bill retired early and bought an FM rock radio station in Carmel. They spent time traveling and enjoying life together until Ellen turned 50 years old and became a widow. She sold the station and moved back to the Bay Area.

Ellen had a passion for sailing and spent time on adventures with friends to Mexico and also on the San Francisco Bay. She owned three sailboats over almost three decades.

Ellen had a lifelong love for learning. At the age of 58 she graduated from College of Marin. She earned her degree and graduated magna cum laude from Dominican University. She then went on to Cal Berkley and earned her certificat­e for teaching English as a second language. She loved her 15 year teaching career and cherished her students.

She became a grandmothe­r, “Nana” to 5 grandchild­ren. She also met Ron Schmidt who was her partner for 22 years. Ellen and Ron enjoyed traveling together, attending sports events, spending time with friends and family.

Ellen sang with with Chorale Singers of Marin for 25 years. Being part of the chorus included trips to Europe for competitio­ns and performanc­es. Later, she became a member of The Sirenaders, a local group of retired performers that entertaine­d people in assisted living and skilled nursing facilities. Ellen also enjoyed swimming in her water aerobics class at MJCC and was a member of Unity in Marin and attended church regularly.

Ellen moved to the Rocklin area in 2022 after daughter and son in law, granddaugh­ter, husband great granddaugh­ters relocated.

Ellen is survived by daughter Liza Fronczak of Auburn, CA, Lindsay Depew ( Joe) of Rocklin, CA, Whitney Moore (Jon) of Leander, Texas, Logan Grime’(Jennifer) of Siver Lake, CA, Noah Grime’ (Rowena) of Irvine, CA, Clayton Eisaman of Fairfax, CA, step grandson Andy Fronczak of Topanga, CA and 6 great grandchild­ren, Mason, Aubrey, Evelyn, Dylan, Kieran, and Westley.

Ellen, “Nana”, lived a full life of adventure, exploratio­n, and extraordin­ary experience­s. She will be missed dearly by family, friends, and all who knew her.

A private family Celebratio­n of Life was held in Auburn, Ca.
