San Marin hits two homers to beat MC

Cole Chamberlai­n and Anthony Scheppler both hit home runs to lead the San Marin High baseball team to a 5-2 road win against Marin Catholic on Tuesday.

Chamberlai­n hit a tworun home run in the first inning then MC's Jude Baker hit a two-run single in the bottom of the inning to tie the game at 2-2. Scheppler's two-run blast in the top of the third gave San Marin (3-2, 2-1 MCAL) the lead for good. The Mustangs added an insurance run on Tyler Keehn's single in the sixth.

Leadoff hitter Jayden Lee reached base all four times for MC (3-1, 0-1), with one hit and three walks.

Rex Solle and Jack Moseley drove in two runs apiece to lift Redwood to a 7-1 victory against San Rafael on Tuesday. The Giants (3-1, 2-1) scored two runs in the first, third, and fifth innings then added a single run in the sixth. Marcos Tolliver paced the Bulldogs (1-3, 0-1) offensivel­y with two hits.

Boys basketball NorCal D-V final:

Athenian 57, San Domenico 46

against Terra Linda on Tuesday. Eli Solem had three hits — including a home run — and scored twice for the Red-tailed Hawks (3-2, 2-1). Jack Hanna, Hugo Barberie, and Finnegan McGrane each drove in two runs for Tam. Michael Graham hit a two-run double for TL (0-4, 0-3).

Marin Academy scored twice in the top of the seventh but was unable to complete the comeback, falling 5-3 to Internatio­nal on Tuesday. Griffin Hornbrook, Alex King, and Thomas Klein had RBIs for the Wildcats (0-3).

College baseball

Matteo Mendoza drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth as College of Marin walked off with a 3-2 victory against Laney on Tuesday. Mendoza, Wyatt Davis, and former Terra Linda High standout Chris DeLangis all had two hits and drove in a run for the Mariners (10-8).

Prep softball

Both teams were limited to three hits but Vintage plated one run in the second inning to secure a 1-0 victory against Redwood on Tuesday. Kait Christense­n had two of the three hits for Redwood (11). Stella Belluomini went six innings, striking out eight while allowing three hits and one unearned run.

Tiana Bersaglier­i, Seanna Madsen, and Jacinda Wright had hits for Novato (0-3) in a 6-2 loss to Cardinal Newman on Tuesday.

Prep swimming

The Tam girls and boys programs opened up their dual-meet seasons with a pair of wins against Archie Williams on Monday. The girls, led by double winners Addison Everage (50 free, 500 free) and Annika Hakes (200 IM, 100 fly) picked up a 100-70 victory.

The Tam boys leaned on their depth, pulling out a 94-76 victory despite only winning two individual events on the day. Andrew Sternfels paced the Redtailed Hawks with a win in the 100 back and tying for first in the 200 IM.

Boys tennis

Julian Zhang, Jackson Sichel, and Cal Fazal were victorious at Nos. 1 through 3 singles, respective­ly, as Redwood beat Marin Catholic for the second time in two days earning a 6-1 victory. Milo Vidyarthi got the lone win for MC at No. 4 singles.

Boys golf

Theo Anderson carded a 34 to lead Marin Catholic to a 195-227 win against Novato at Meadow Club on Tuesday. Liam Everson led Novato with a 45.

Women's basketball

Dominican University is set to open play at the PacWest Championsh­ips against No. 6 Concordia Irvine at 7:15 p.m. Thursday in San Diego.

The Golden Eagles (1313, 11-9 PacWest) needed to beat Westmont in their regular-season finale on Saturday to qualify for the tournament and did, picking up an 82-65 win.

The Penguins (19-9, 128) swept Concordia Irvine in the regular season with a 72-63 road win on Dec. 16 followed by a75-57 home win on Jan. 27. Adia Walker scored a career-high 25 points for Dominican in the first game then Keyonee Neal had a game-high 21 points in the rematch.

Prep badminton

San Domenico improved to 2-0 this season following an 8-1 win against Crosspoint on Tuesday.
