Tam rallies for walk-off victory vs. McKinleyvi­lle

Charlotte Callagy drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Tam High softball team rallied out of a four-run hole for a 5-4 victory against McKinleyvi­lle on Friday.

Tam (2-4) entered the seventh inning trailing 4-3 and Zoe Pletcher began the rally with a walk. Ava Lee singled to move Pletcher over to third. Pletcher scored on a passed ball during Callagy's at-bat then Lee came around to score on an RBI groundout.

Tam scored three times in the fifth inning, on a two-run double by Lee and an RBI single by Eden Clark. Lee also pitched seven innings, allowing five hits and four runs (two earned) while striking out 12.

• Paige Murphy hit a two-run homer in the top of the seventh to get Archie Williams on the board in a 7-2 loss against American Canyon on Friday. Murphy and Kennedy Dunsing both had two of the five hits for the Peregrine Falcons (2-2).

• Both teams scored in the seventh and eighth innings as Redwood dropped a wild 7-5 game against Bishop O'Dowd on Friday. The Dragons took the lead with a pair of runs in the top of the seventh but the Giants re-tied the game at 4-4 on an RBI double by Kait Christense­n. Bishop O'Dowd scored three more in the top of the eighth then Hailey Carlton hit a two-out RBI single to pull the Giants within 7-5.

Prep baseball

Finnegan McGrane singled in the bottom of the seventh as Tam walked off with a 4-3 win against Novato on Friday. The Redtailed Hawks (5-5, 4-2 MCAL) scored single runs in the sixth and seventh innings to cap a late rally. Novato (6-4, 3-1) committed three errors as only one of Tam's runs was earned. Cash Campbell drove in two runs for Novato. J.P. Harmon struck out eight hitters in seven innings.

• Sam Gersch, Theo Trono, and Jack Moseley had big days at the plate as Redwood rolled to a 19-2 win against Terra Linda Friday. Gersch had four hits — including a home run — three RBIs and scored four times while hitting leadoff. Trono and Moseley had three hits each. Rex Solle struck out 11 hitters in four innings of work and also drove in three runs for the Giants (7-0, 5-0). Redwood remained unbeaten on the season as Branson had to forfeit the MCAL opener between the two teams.

• Cole Chamberlai­n, Sean McGrath, and Anthony Scheppler combined for eight hits and nine RBIs to lead San Marin to an 18-0 victory against Branson (2-7, 0-6) on Friday. Chamberlai­n (two hits, four RBIs) and Scheppler (three hits, two RBIs) both had triples.

McGrath pitched all seven innings, allowing two hits and striking out 10. San Marin (8-2, 5-1) did most of its damage in a 10-run sixth inning.

• Peter Irwin pitched a complete game and registered his eighth strikeout to end the game as Archie Williams held on for a 5-4 victory against Piedmont on Friday. The Highlander­s hit a threerun homer with two outs in the seventh after an Archie Williams error. The Peregrine Falcons (35) did most of their damage in a four-run fourth inning, getting a three-run homer by Henry Hanavan followed immediatel­y by a solo shot from Jackson Oliver-Roa.

• Tam battled Acalanes into the seventh inning, falling 6-5 when the Dons hit a single to walk off with a win. Jack Hanna paced the Red-tailed Hawks with three hits, Tito Fierstein had two hits, and Henry Stoll drove in two runs.

• Marin Academy had nine hits but committed seven errors in a 9-6 loss to Urban on Friday. MA (0-4, 0-1 BCL West) led 3-0 before Urban tied it in the bottom of the third and added five more runs in the fourth. Jacob Pinguelo, Brady Stewart, and Daniel Puente had two hits apiece for the Wildcats.

Prep swimming

Addison Everage was victorious in the 100 butterfly and the 100 backstroke to lead the Tam girls to a 110-72 win against Terra Linda Friday. Tam also got wins from Elle Philp (200 free) and the relay teams in the 200 medley, 200 free, and 400 free. TL was led by double winners Jamie Schmidt (200 IM, 100 breast) and Josephine Fetterman-Riggle (50 free, 100 free).

Boys volleyball

Archie Williams posted a 25-19, 20-25, 25-15, 2511 victory against Novato on Thursday to make it through the first week of the league campaign with an unbeaten record.

The Peregrine Falcons (6-5, 2-0) are tied for first place with Terra Linda (40, 2-0) through two games. Redwood (5-3, 1-0) is also unbeaten in league, posting a 25-4, 24-15, 25-16 win over San Marin (2-3, 1-1) on Thursday after starting the season with a bye.

Tam (5-12, 1-1) bounced back from its five-set loss to Archie Williams on Tuesday with a 25-16, 2513, 25-15 win over San Rafael (0-5, 0-2) on Thursday and a 25-11, 25-13, 25-20 win against Branson (5-6, 1-2) on Friday.

Boys golf

Marin Catholic got solid rounds from Charlie Wilheim (36) and Charlie Hansen (37) at Peacock Gap on Thursday to post a 154-225 victory against San Domenico.

Ben Nguyen led the Panthers with a 48.

Water polo

Marin County water polo talent will be wellrepres­ented during the USA Water Polo Olympic Developmen­t National Championsh­ips this weekend in Chicago, Ill.

Eleven athletes from Marin high school and club teams will be competing, including Reed Hanna of Tam High, Haakon Lacy, Nate Greenberg, Jacob Carrera and Vincent Krilanovic­h of Archie Williams, Harley Haveman, Cameron Hellar and Soren Jensen of Terra Linda, Maddox McClellan of Redwood, as well as Ethan Wallace and William Mills.

The girls national championsh­ip is scheduled for March 22-24 in Riverside. The girls roster has yet to be announced.

Sailing
