Tam's Solem tallies up a no-no against San Rafael

Eli Solem threw a no-hitter with seven strikeouts as Tam High shut down San Rafael, 9-0, on Tuesday. Solem helped his own cause with three RBIs at the plate. Cooper Lift and Ryan Simon had two hits each for the Red-tailed Hawks (7-2 MCAL, 10-6).

Novato High got home runs from JP Harmon and Cohen Garcia, and Griffin Vorhaus anchored the mound with six strikeouts through five innings to help the Hornets to a 9-0 victory over Archie Williams on Tuesday. Vorhaus and Dari Liuzzi combined to throw a four-hitter for the

Hornets. Novato banged out eight runs in the bottom of the second inning. Harmon scored twice and drove in four runs, while Garcia scored twice and had two RBIs. Jack Evans, Gilly Roth, Henry Hanavan and Mike Wick had hits for Archie Williams.

Boys lacrosse

Marin Academy lost 1211 in Tuesday's non-league showdown with Westlake. The Wildcats (7-5) are scheduled to continue their Southern California tour on Wednesday against Crespi.

Tyler Smith netted a team-high four goals and Sal Carrow added three gorals as Novato rolled past

Washington State sophomore post player A.J. Rohosy, a Marin Catholic grad, has entered the transfer portal after playing in 11 games the past two seasons.

College swimming

Mill Valley native Maddy Gruender was one of eight UC Santa Cruz swimmers to earn Academic All-District honors on Tuesday, as voted on by College Sports Communicat­ors. The Tam High grad now advances to the national ballot for Academic All-American. It is the second All-District honor for Gruender.

Gruender and her teammates placed sixth in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:29.21 during the NCAA Division III Championsh­ips on March 23 as UC Santa Cruz finished 17th overall. Gruender also finished sixth in her heat during the 200 back (2:03.84), good enough for 22nd in the nation. She placed third in her 100 back heat (57.57), 28th overall in the country. Gruender finished 23rd in the 200 free.
