Mets extend win streak to six, beat Dodgers 6-4

LOS ANGELES >> Starling Marte hit a go-ahead, three-run home run in the sixth and first baseman Pete Alonso made a spectacula­r rally-killing play in the bottom of the inning for the New York Mets, who beat the struggling Los Angeles Dodgers 6-4 Saturday to extend their winning streak to six games.

The Mets won their fifth straight series and have gone 12-3 after an 0-5 start.

The Dodgers' struggles at the plate continued as they lost for the seventh time in nine games. They went 2 for 12 with runners in scoring position.

RAYS 2, YANKEES 0, 10 INN. >> José Caballero hit a goahead double in the 10th inning and Tampa Bay beat New York.

TWINS 4, TIGERS 3 >> Bailey Ober pitched six solid innings, and Minnesota stopped a five-game slide by edging Detroit.

MARLINS 3, CUBS 2, 1ST GAME; CUBS 3, MARLINS 2, 2ND GAME >> Bryan De La Cruz hit a two-run homer off Adbert Alzolay in the ninth inning, and Miami beat Chicago in the opener of a split doublehead­er.

In the second game Cody Bellinger and Alexander Canario homered and Chicago beat Miami to earn a split of the daynight doublehead­er.

BREWERS 12, CARDINALS 5 >> Jackson Chourio followed Brice Turang for back-toback home runs in the fourth inning, and Milwaukee routed St. Louis.

RED SOX 4, PIRATES 2 >> Kutter Crawford allowed one run in six strong innings and Boston defeated the struggling Pittsburgh.

MARINERS 7, ROCKIES 0 >> Luis Castillo pitched twohit ball over seven innings to win for the first time in five starts this season, and Seattle overcame intermitte­nt rain and snow to beat Colorado.

NATIONALS 5, ASTROS 4, 10 INN. >> Joey Meneses hit an RBI single in the 10th inning after Ryan Pressly blew the save in the ninth for Houston and Washington came back to defeat Houston.

PHILLIES 9, WHITE SOX 5 >> Zack Wheeler pitched nohit ball for 7 1/3 innings, Brandon Marsh homered and Philadelph­ia extended its winning streak to five by beating Chicago.

REDS 7, ANGELS 5 >> Tyler Stephenson hit his first career grand slam in the first inning, and Cincinnati beat Los Angeles to take the first two games of the three-game interleagu­e series.

BRAVES 5, RANGERS 2 >> Charlie Morton combined with three relievers on a five-hitter and Atlanta beat Nathan Eovaldi and Texas for its sixth straight win.

ORIOLES 9, ROYALS 7 >> Craig Kimbrel tied Billy Wagner for seventh on the career list with his 422nd save, and Baltimore rode a seven-run second inning to beat Kansas City.
