BUDGET MARINE SPICE ISLAND BILLFISH TOURNAMENT

January 24-28,

With one blue marlin, two white marlin and five sailfish releases in three days, Magic Lady emerged victorious in this year’s event. EZ Axcess was second with two blues and four sails, and Exile placed third with one white marlin and six sailfish releases. A total of 56 boats competed in this year’s event.

BUCCANEER CUP SAILFISH RELEASE TOURNAMENT

January 25-27,

Palm Beach, Florida

The Viking 68 team barely edged Two

Cats, a 65-foot Rybovich, for first place in this year’s Buccaneer Cup. Both teams scored 7,500 points, with the Viking factory demonstrator placing first on time. Sandman, a 63-foot Spencer, was third with 7,400 points.

CHEECA LODGE PRESIDENTIAL SAILFISH TOURNAMENT

January 26-28, Islamorada, Florida

Capt. John Hagen led Mdala to the overall win with 13 sailfish releases, with the final release coming with just one minute remaining, to move ahead of the second-place team aboard Relentless. The event hosted 19 boats tallying 130 total sailfish releases during the two-day event. Relentless was also crowned the Florida Keys Gold Cup Sailfish Champion team, earning a bonus of $24,000 in prize money.
