POINTS TO CONSIDER
We would like to remind everyone that The Billfish Foundation is a sport-fishing conservation organization whose philosophy does not oppose landing some billfish. We do encourage tournament directors, sponsors and participants to fish and establish rules in accordance with responsible sport-fishing practices.
Please remember the following: Measure twice before deciding to gaff and never deckcheck; evaluate the current minimum-size limit; recall that Atlantic blue marlin stocks are a finite resource; integrate research by scientists or college fishery students; arrange for food banks or similar organizations to be at the scales each day with refrigerated trucks so landed marlin can be received for food distribution to those less fortunate; consider establishing college-scholarship funds for those interested in researching billfish; and support a sport-fishing conservation organization.
All the best throughout the rest of the
2019 season in raising money for charities, generating economic benefits for communities and related businesses while ensuring exciting fishing experiences for the future!
