I was very impressed with the feature on

Perry Nichols in the October 2019 issue by

Tom Southward (“Fishing Is No Handicap”).

To be handicapped by a disease like muscular dystrophy at such an early age and then go on to lead an incredibly fulfilling life is an inspiration for us all to live every day to the fullest. And to then be so determined to fish for marlin—from a wheelchair and using electric reels—is truly an outstanding achievement. My hat’s off to Perry, his caregiver, Keith Jones, and the team at Bluewater Yacht Sales who transformed the vessel to accommodate his needs.

To paraphrase the quote from Charles Swindoll we used in the feature, our lives are 10 percent what happens to us and 90 percent how we react to it. To our readers: The next time you’re having a bad day, reread this feature. It will change your perspective on what we can accomplish if we just put forth the effort. —Ed.
