IN MEMORIAM

-

The sport-fishing world lost several good men in the past few months. Wes Dickman died July 23 at the age of 81. Dickman worked for over 50 years in the boating industry, eventually rising to senior executive positions with Chris-Craft, Hatteras, Volvo Penta, Wellcraft and Bertram, and ultimately becoming managing partner of Ferretti of America.

Capt. Vernon “OB” O’Bryan also died on July 23. He was a vocal proponent for tag-andrelease marlin fishing and once caught 510 billfish in 46 days, including 16 IGFA Billfish Grand Slams. The IGFA presented the Tommy Gifford Award to O’Bryan in his home prior to his death, with the help of Capts. Skip Smith, Bark Garnsey, Gene Vander Hoek and Kevin Nakamaru, and IGFA representative Rick Gaffney.

Bob Roscioli died on July 27 at age 78. He was a marine-industry icon, boatbuilder and founder of the Roscioli Yachting Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Roscioli built his reputation as a yacht painter, and was one of the first to spray two-part paint.
