MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST BILLFISH CLASSIC June 7-13 Biloxi, Mississippi
The team on It Just Takes Time, led by owner-angler Nick Pratt and Capt. Chris Hood, repeated as tournament champions this year, boating a blue marlin weighing 793 pounds to win $418,775. The Texas-based C-Student finished second, while CE rounded out the tournament’s top three.
EMERALD COAST BLUE MARLIN CLASSIC
Miramar Beach, Florida
High Cotton, a 92-foot Viking owned by Pete Bell and based in Katy, Texas, weighed a 681-pound blue marlin to win $394,436 for first place. Devotion placed second with a 471.2-pound fish, followed by Briar Patch in third with a 411.7-pounder.
BLUE MARLIN WORLD CUP July 4 Worldwide
Blue Hunter, a charter boat based in the Cape Verde islands, boated a 1,046.1-pound blue marlin, winning $492,000. No other qualifying fish were landed, and Blue Hunter was not entered in the Big Blue Challenge. The winning fish had a short length of 142 inches and a girth of 73 inches. A total of 123 teams competed.
