TWICE LUCKY
Lure or live bait? That was the question at Panama’s Tropic Star Lodge when photographer Hannes Ribbner snapped this image of a black marlin airing it out behind Island Star. “They hooked the fish on a live bonito,” he says, “but once I started looking at the photos, I realized that the marlin had an old, faded lure hooked to it as well. We believe it must have been lost by a private boat at some point because the Tropic Star boats rarely use lures.” After talking with the Island Star crew back at the dock, he learned they removed the old lure and successfully released the very healthy fish—again.
