Marshall County is bounded on the north by St. Joseph County, on the east by Elkhart and Kosciusko Counties, on the south by Kosciusko and Fulton Counties and on the west by Starke and St. Joseph Counties. It is twenty-one miles square and contains 441 square miles. It includes Townships 32, 33, 34 and half of 35 north, and Ranges 1, 2, 3 and half of 4 east.

The northern third of Marshall County is divided into three townships: Polk, North and German. The middle third is also divided into three townships: West, Center and Bourbon. The southern third has four townships: Union, Green, Walnut and Tippecanoe.
