Barron brings wealth of experience, wins to Falcons
WALKERTON — The Glenn High School football program has seen its win total increase each of the last three years and should get a bump in enthusiasm and credibility this season with the addition of former Plymouth HS head coach John Barron now in charge.
“The coaching staff and players have been very receptive to a new head coach and new expectations,” said Barron, who became the all-time wins leader at Plymouth (126) during his 17 years leading the Rockies. He will be assisted by Tom Bendy, Damon Groves, Tom Isenbarger, Dave Lichtenbarger, Damen Jackson, Andy King and Kevin Smigielski.
Coach Barron and his staff will lean on the returning Falcon letterwinners that include seniors Will Brinkoff (OL/ DL), Jamie Gierlowski (RB/LB), Kamren
Hardesty (OL/DL), Aden Johnson (QB, DB), Nathan Taylor (TE/ LB) and Kory VanHuss (RB/S), juniors Landon Glennon (OL/DL), Charlie Hill (RB/LB), Mason Kobelt (RB/ LB), TyRonn Larkin (RB/DB), Chase Miller (WR/DB), Ira Napier (OL/DL), Markese Patrick (RB/DB), Luke Rice (OL/DL) and Caleb Spodnick (OL/DL).
Newcomers to watch include sophomores Eli Beeney (TE/LB), Brody King (RB/DB) and Julian McMahan (TE/LB), along with freshmen Brayden Benwell (QB/DB), Kaden Lang (RB/DB), Ayden Smigielski (OL/DL), Elijah Wallace (OL/DL) and Blake Wright (OL/LB).
“We have very good team speed overall and they seem to like contact - two very good attributes to a high school football program,” said Barron. “They also are very coachable and are good teammates to one another. I believe we can have some success
