offseason,” said Dorrel. “We like the things that he has done and he can help his teammates. We have a number of kids that we are pretty excited about that we think can be playmakers for us.”

While the scheme on defense will remain the same, there will be a slightly new wrinkle in the offense.

“We are going to run a lot more option this year,” said Dorrel. “We are going to be in the pistol, with some midline, some inside veer, a little outside veer, rocket toss. We’ve been a jet based team so long and we felt like with the personnel we had returning it would be in our best interest to implement an option-based attack.”

“We’ve just got to score more points ourselves to have a chance to rack up some more W’s. I think what we are doing now suits our kids better with their particular skill sets,” he said. “We are fortunate that we have a lot of dynamic athletes. I use the word dynamic because I’m really excited about our athleticism and how we can help develop their skills to give them a chance to showcase their talent on Friday night.”

A successful season is a simple thing at Culver Academy.

“We just want to get started in week one,” said Dorrel. “We want to play one football game and see where it takes us from there. Obviously with the pandemic and the fluid situation we are in we just want to get a football game in and move forward from there.”

“If we could play one football game we will consider that a success. If we can play two that’s a privilege.”
