- STAFF REPORT

Whether you’re looking for an extravagant venue for a special event, well-maintained golf courses, a professional environment for business meetings, over-night accommodations, or a spot to grab a drink and bite to eat, Swan Lake Resort has what you’re looking for.

The two courses, which have been described as being in “Country Club condition” are arranged so they can be enjoyed by life-time golfers and beginners alike. If you’re looking to improve your game, you can join thousands of golfers who have utilized the Golf Academy at Swan Lake Resort. Reps report that the PGA Professionals who serve as instructors are so invested in their approach to teaching the game that they have worked together to develop a revolutionary array of instructional opportunities.

When the care-free golf game with associates is ready to evolve into a serious meeting or business retreat, Swan Lake Resort still has you covered. The Conference Center features 11 multi-function rooms with around 30,000 square feet of highly versatile space along with state-ofthe art audio and visual capabilities for presentations.

The North Central Indiana location, which is in close proximity to many metropolitan areas, makes the location highly accessible. That comes in handy for recreational and business needs, as stated above, and for special occasions where people may be traveling from outside of the area.

Speaking of special occasions, the picturesque rural setting is ideal for weddings and other social events. They offer a wide range of venues for your special day as well as wedding planning and banquet meal services.

If you’re seeking out a place to stay the night, Swan Lake Resort offers a diverse range of accommodations. In addition to deluxe hotel rooms and suites individuals can stay in fairway villas, log cabins and quaint cottages. They also have recreational vehicle pads on site in case you bring your own accommodations along with you.

Matt Hovermale has been working at Swan Lake since 2012 and now serves as general manager and one of the owners along with Angela Bowman and Plymouth Speedway owner Ed Kennedy. Hovermale’s wife Kristen also works at Swan Lake Resort as Director of Hotel Operations along with being part of the ownership team.

The general manager stated that when he and his wife took on leadership roles they felt it was important to keep the existing team in place to ensure that operations con

tinued smoothly. He added that the ownership team and the employees are well situated to move the business into the future.

As a part of moving the business into the future, Hovermale revealed that certain “guest-centric” renovations have already been made and others are underway or planned.

The biggest renovation to date has been the updates to the restaurant where there is new paint, new flooring, new tables, new chairs and a new bar. The new restaurant, now called the Swan Lake Chophouse, offers an elevated dining experience featuring Choice Angus Steaks, Fresh Seafood, In-House Smoked Ribs, Burgers and more. Also added to the outdoor features of the restaurant patio is a newly constructed waterfall to add to the ambiance for the guest. Putter’s Bar and Grille, located at the golf course, will continue to be a more casual fast service environment.

Up next will be a hotel renovation and other changes will be made in the coming years. Hovermale stated that, altogether, it will be about a three to five year timeframe for the projects they have planned.

Matt emphasized that while they do offer memberships,

Swan Lake is open to the public and a friendly environment for everyone. Business reps are constantly keeping the community informed about what’s happening at the Resort through their website and social media account.
