West­lake 27, Great Mills 6

The vis­it­ing Wolver­ines won for the se­cond straight week in de­feat­ing the Hor­nets on Fri­day night.

Great Mills struck first get­ting a touch­down when Martrel Ma­son re­turned an in­ter­cep­tion for a touch­down. The 2-point con­ver­sion failed, but the Hor­nets led 6-0.

West­lake then re­cov­ered a Great Mills fum­ble and Cur­to­nio Mar­shall ran 1 yard into the end zone for the Wolver­ines’ first score of the game. The kick failed, leav­ing the game tied at 6.

Next, West­lake run­ning back An­dre Jack­son Jr. had an 81-yard touch­down run to his team in the lead at 12-6.

In the se­cond quar­ter, Wolver­ines quar­ter­back Jalon Spencer had a 12yard touch­down run that made the score 19-6 af­ter a Ryan Lloyd ex­tra point.

Mar­shall and Spencer con­nected for a long touch­down later in the quar­ter. This time the 2-point con­ver­sion was good giv­ing West­lake a 27-6 lead.

There were no points scored in the third and fourth quar­ters.

The Wolver­ines (3-2 over­all) will be at Lackey at 7 p.m. Fri­day night. The Charg­ers de­feated La Plata in Week 5, 41-6.

The Hor­nets (0-5) will host Chop­ti­con at 6 p.m. Fri­day. The Braves de­feated Leonard­town in Week 5, 34-0.

The vis­it­ing Charg­ers re­bounded from the Week 4 loss to Calvert in de­feat­ing the Warriors in a SMAC Ch­e­sa­peake Di­vi­sion con­test on Fri­day even­ing.

Af­ter a score­less first quar­ter, se­nior Jayson Wilmer put Lackey (3-2, 1-1 SMAC Ch­e­sa­peake) on the board early in the se­cond with a touch­down. Roughly 3 1/2 min­utes later, ju­nior Jor­dan Bryant scored on a 68-yard fum­ble re­cov­ery for a touch­down and the Charg­ers would go to half­time up 14-0.

Lackey ex­tended its lead 82 sec­onds into the se­cond half when se­nior quar­ter­back Robert “Boo­gie” Middleton ran 54 yards for a touch­down. Later in the pe­riod, Wilmer scored his se­cond touch­down of the night, from 3 yards out, and the lead was 29-0 af­ter Middleton ran in the 2-point con­ver­sion.

La Plata (1-4, 0-2) got on the board with a touch­down mid­way through the fourth to break up the shutout.

Lackey an­swered with two Bryant touch­downs in the fi­nal 2:12 of the game, the first a 25-yard run and the se­cond from 39 yards out that ended the game.

The Charg­ers will host West­lake at 7 p.m. Fri­day. The Wolver­ines de­feated Great Mills in Week 5, 27-6. La Plata is at Patux­ent at 7 p.m. Fri­day. The Pan­thers shut out McDonough in Week 5, 36-0.

The Pan­thers picked up their first win of the 2018 sea­son by shut­ting out the vis­it­ing Rams in a SMAC Ch­e­sa­peake Di­vi­sion con­test on Fri­day even­ing.

Patux­ent (1-4, 1-0 SMAC Ch­e­sa­peake) led 13-0 in the se­cond quar­ter and ex­tended the lead to 29-0 in the third be­fore adding one fi­nal touch­down to end the scor­ing later.

McDonough (1-4, 0-2) lost for the se­cond straight week af­ter pick­ing up its first win of the sea­son in Week 3.

The Pan­thers will host La Plata at 7 p.m. Fri­day. The Warriors fell to Lackey in Week 5, 41-6.

The Rams will take on Calvert at 7 p.m. Fri­day in a con­test that is sched­uled to be played at Thomas Stone High School. The Cava­liers de­feated Stone in Week 5, 48-20.
