Mar­bury Baptist to host choral en­sem­ble

will host LYRA choral en­sem­ble at 7 p.m., Oct. 5, at the church, 4670 Bick­nell Road, Mar­bury. LYRA, an a cap­pella choral en­sem­ble of mu­si­cians from St. Peters­burg, Rus­sia, will per­form songs cus­tom to Rus­sian Ortho­dox churches, as well as tra­di­tional Rus­sian folk mu­sic. Churches of­fer ‘Bless­ing of Pets’

On Sun­day, Oct. 7, at 2 p.m., (112 Charles Street) will of­fer a fes­tive Bless­ing of Pets and an Ice Cream So­cial. The event, held in cel­e­bra­tion of the feast day of St. Fran­cis of As­sisi, will en­tail a short prayer ser­vice and in­di­vid­ual bless­ing of all pets. Fellowship and games will fol­low with ice cream sun­daes of­fered. Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary on Oct. 7

Our Lady Help of Chris­tians Catholic Church, 100 Vil­lage Street in Waldorf, will cel­e­brate the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary on Sun­day, Oct. 7. The In­ter­na­tional Pil­grim Vir­gin Statue of Fa­tima will ar­rive at 8 a.m. Hourly recita­tions of the rosary will be­gin at 1 p.m. Aux­il­iary Bishop of Wash­ing­ton Mario E. Dor­son­ville will ar­rive at 5 p.m., with a liv­ing rosary at 5:30 p.m. A bilin­gual Mass (English/Span­ish) is at 7 p.m. fol­lowed by a re­cep­tion. An all-night prayer vigil will be held, end­ing on Mon­day morn­ing.
