A vote not cast is one for the opposition

-

The day is dawning on Charles County as we approach our polling places. Complacency is our worst enemy at this critical time with residents who are not looking at the candidates, especially those who have not appeared at many of the forums. Just last week the NAACP sponsored a forum with only one Democrat coming out to let people know what he stands for and to encourage us to return him to another term as delegate in Annapolis.

All I know about the Democrat candidate for state Senate are the words “frack, frack, frack.” This was at the first forum held at the College of Southern Maryland where all candidates for the House of Delegates and Senate showed up. This is the man who unseated Sen. Mac Middleton using some false information. He is the same man who went out of the county to Baltimore to have a fundraiser with lobbyists and the same man who had political information printed in New York. This makes me wonder where his heart is.

Even Del. Edith Patterson did not care enough to show up last week. She may be thinking she will get back in even if she does not show up. Do your homework and look at her voting record online.

Del. C.T. Wilson, the only Democrat at the forum, did show and he won the hearts of the people there after a very productive stint in Annapolis with Charles County as his top priority. Maureen Woodruff and Jim Crawford

made good presentations at the forum which qualifies them as very good candidates along with Wilson. They appear to be the three delegates who will do the most for Charles County.

Bill Dotson, a very successful businessman, should be one of the first to look at. Check out his website. He has our county as a top priority. He wants to improve the bottlenecks on routes 301, 5 and 210 by stopping the sending of our tax dollars to counties north of Southern Maryland and improving transportation. He also wants to see school properties in Charles County to

be rid of trailers and will support getting more money dedicated to education from our legislature for Charles County. Because of this, we must vote for Question No. 1 on the ballot to protect education money and must vote against Question No. 2 which is unfair to election boards and can cause unscrupulous people casting illegal votes that cannot be taken back.

The bottom line is to get out and vote. Remember that a vote not cast is a vote for the opposition.
