Two wounded in Yuba County shooting

A car-to-car shooting on Highway 49 sent two people to the hospital, the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office said Saturday.
The shooter, traveling southbound, fired a single bullet that hit a man and a woman, traveling northbound, inflicting minor gunshot wounds, according to Sgt. Nathan Lybarger.
The incident occurred at about 9:50 p.m. Friday near Pleasant Valley Road and Highway 49. The Nevada County Sheriff’s Office first responded to the shooting with YCSO assisting.
Further investigation showed the incident occurred
in Yuba County, with the YCSO taking over the investigation, Lybarger said.
“Our investigations unit is following up and working on it,” he said.
Emergency responders transported the victims by air and ground ambulances to the Sutter Roseville Medical Center, where they are expected to survive their injuries, Lybarger said.
He said more information about the extent of the gunshot wounds and the investigation into the shooter will be released Monday.
