Samia Takher and Victoria Doss represente­d Butte Vista at the Sutter County Spelling Bee Wednesday night. Both did a fantastic job and made it to the third round. Congratula­tions to these wonderful young ladies.

Twin Rivers Charter School On Tuesday, there will be a 2nd Trimester Awards Assembly for grades four through eight. Students in the seventh grade will be on their Submarine Field Trip on Tuesday and Wednesday, the 20th and 21st. Wednesday is our next Free Dress Day. Friday evening is our next Game Night.

Franklin Elementary School

On Wednesday the 21st, the fifth-grade classes of Chris Eggers and Erick Dahl will have their musical concert under the direction of music teacher Jeff Poppinga. Showtime will be at 6 p.m.

Wednesday will be our next minimum day where teachers and staff use student academic progress to plan curriculum and prepare materials.

On Thursday, we welcome everyone to our open house from 6 p.m.-7 p.m.

Tierra Buena Elementary School On Wednesday, we have our ELAC meeting (English Learners Advisory Committee) at 8:10 a.m. in the Eagle Care center. The Tierra Buena School Site Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. in the library, also on the 21st. We will host a wrestling meet with Live Oak on Thursday, and on Saturday our wrestling team will take part in a tournament at Lindhurst High School.

Meridian Elementary School

On Friday, April 20, Meridian Elementary School will be celebratin­g its 50-year anniversar­y of the current campus. We are inviting former Meridian Elementary School students and staff members to be part of this special day. If you would like to be involved in the planning, please contact Supt/principal Javier Lopez at 696-2604.

March 23 will be the Panther Pursuit of Excellence and Academic Excellence Award assembly.

March 20, Mrs. S. Hook’s and Mrs. S Van Valkenburg­h’s third-graders will be on a field trip in the Sutter Buttes.

March 21, Mrs. S. Alloway’s and Mrs. C. Scarfe’s second-grade classes will be at a science academy in the foothills.

The Yuba City Duplicate Bridge Club played several special games during January in addition to its regular weekly games. Winners were: Jan. 4 – first, Mary Mayfield and Joanne Murdock; and second/third tie, Johnnie Houser-alan Ludwig and Rich Hayes-norma Hayes.
