A cellphone video posted by a Yuba City resident – which garnered more than 12,000 shares on Facebook – shows another man trying to prevent Ramirez’s vehicle from leaving the parking lot. During the altercation, Ramirez struck the man with his vehicle while trying to flee the parking lot, according to police.

Police said the man was not a Walmart employee, but saw Ramirez leave in a hurry and store employees told him they believed Ramirez had shoplifted. The man followed Ramirez outside and parked his vehicle behind Ramirez.

With his car boxed in, Ramirez drove his vehicle into surrounding cars, including the victim’s, in an attempt to escape. The man who parked behind Ramirez got out of his car and tried to slash Ramirez’s tires with a knife, but Ramirez struck the man with his car and fled the parking lot, police said.

Ramirez had two children, ages 10 and 7, inside his car, according to police.

Ramirez’s next appearance is scheduled for March 27. He was not listed on the Sutter County Jail website on Tuesday.
