Three Yuba-sutter graduates recently concluded their track and field seasons by completing against some of the best collegiate athletes in the nation, while a local softball standout is ready to take on the best of the best this week while playing in the Women’s College World Series.

Sutter High graduate Taylor Pack, a junior catcher for UCLA, helped the Bruins win the Los Angeles Super Regional over the weekend and could see time behind the plate tonight on national television.

UCLA (56-5) is the No. 3 seed in Women’s College World Series and will take on No. 6 Florida State (52-11) in the first game of doubleelim­ination bracket play today at 6:30 p.m. in Oklahoma City.

The game will be televised on ESPN2.

Pack, who was limited to just one at-bat while dealing with a shoulder injury as a sophomore, has started 31 games for UCLA this season and is batting .314 in 102 at-bats for the Bruins. She’s hit seven doubles, a triple and two home runs to go with 16 RBIS and 16 runs scored.

UCLA’S run through regionals and super regionals over the past two weeks.

In track and field, River Valley High graduate Courtney Massengale wrapped up her junior season for San Francisco State by earning her second career All-america award in the discus after claiming second-team honors last year.
