Marysville woman dies in head-on collision
A head-on collision killed a 57-year-old Marysville woman and caused major injuries to an Olivehurst man Friday on Highway 70 at Saddleback Drive.
According to a California Highway Patrol press release, Joseph Watson, 37, was driving his 1996 Ford Explorer southbound when he turned across the center line into the path of a 1998 Toyota Corolla traveling northbound and driven by the Marysville woman.
Watson’s Ford struck the Toyota head-on. The vehicles came to a stop and blocked both directions of traffic, the release states.
Bi-county Ambulance first responders transported Watson Rideout Memorial Hospital.
The preliminary investigation indicates Watson may have been distracted. Drugs or alcohol are not believed to have been a factor, according to the CHP release.
The identity of the Marysville woman has not been released. to
The Bank of Feather River, Yuba City, recently received recognition from two different sources.
The bank was classified as “Super Premier Performing” by the Findley Reports on Financial Institutions. The award is based on the bank’s 2017 operating results.
The Findley Reports provides performance benchmarks through annual classifications. “Super Premier” is the top benchmark.
“These designations have become highly regarded and recipients are recognized throughout the western United States as financial institutions achieving exceptional performance,” according to a press release.
The Western Independent Bankers Association recognized the Bank of Feather River as a “Top Three” nominee for 2018 bank of the year.
Nominees were announced recently at the association’s annual conference in Kauai, Hawaii.
Nominees, according to a press release, were selected for “their enduring impact on the communities they serve, exceptional bank performance, and demonstrated industry innovation.” (A video highlighting the bank’s outreach to the Yuba-sutter community was shown at the conference – it can be viewed at www.bofr.bank.)
“Community banks across the western region have such a daily impact on the communities they serve,” said Julie Morehead, president and CEO. “Bank of Feather River is honored to be recognized for the difference we make in the Yuba-sutter community.”
